Primal/tactical quasi-Celtic short sword

This was an experiement. I've been wanting to make a double-edged blade inspired by Celtic La Tene swords for a while (whether that is evident in the final product or not). I had a customer approach me about a sword blade, so I forged this out as a test piece to see how I would do forging a double-edged blade. I think I see some Chinese influence as well, but it's mostly my style turned toward doing a double-edged short sword. Seeing how this one turned out, I can now see about forging a longer blade.

The overall length is 19 3/4" and the blade, including the choils, is 13 1/5". The steel is 5160 and the handle is toxic green and black paracord impregnated with Minwax Wood Hardener, with a three-strand Turk's head knot. Both edges shave hair.

The sheath is Kydex with two MOLLE locks.

Love it. Would love it a bit more with a guard, but that's not really your thing. Like the handle shape and wrap, and blade shape looks nice too.

Crimsonfalcon - I hear you on the guard, but I think with the forward swell of the handle and the Turk's head, the hand woulld stay pretty solid on the handle.

Be-Prepared - The next one will be at least that long, and will be a collaboration with the customer.

I don't doubt it. I just think it would look neat with a guard of some sort. Maybe a long oval type. But again, that would be pretty outside your usual style, which is great anyways. If the Air Force sends us to San Antonio in a couple years, could I maybe stop by and see you work sometime? I'm purely stock removal, and would love to see some actual forging.

Your work as always is fantastic, but I really really like the direction that your going. This blade and your Tanto also. I would LOVE a bushsword sized version of that Tanto, like a Wakazashi, damn that would be sexy.
