My last big one for the year. OAL is 14 " with curl, 8" forged random damascus blade with forge texture along spine.Guard and curl are milde steel with hammer texture and fire blackened finish, spacer is wagon wheel wrought iron and handle is elk leg bone. Sheath is rawhide over veg-tan, deerskin fringe, trade beads, tin cones horsehair and brass tacks. The quilled wheel is quilled in six different colors and is woven as well as wrapped.

dude, that kit is visceral!

I really like both knife and sheath. Lots of character. Thanks for showing us.

Very nice designs and execution.
Your pieces are getting better and better.
Thanks for sharing.

If I may add:
My preference for fringe on period sheaths is to be more irregular, less broad or finer strips. IMO, it makes the fringe appear fuller and the sheath appear more authentic.
I think Karen Shook and Chuck Burrow's sheaths usually demonstrate this.

Not so much here, but I noticed when another maker posted a period sheath the other day that all the strands were symmetric and near perfect and I thought it made the sheath appear odd.

Thanks a lot guys. I agree with you Kevin about the fringe. If you were to see this one in person you would see that they are uneven. I don't think I could cut deerskin even if I tried to;)This one now lives in Ohio, along with everything else I have posted lately. I have a new customer up there that stumbled across my website and has since bought 5 pieces of my work so far, with more pending!
