I do enjoy the finely finished knives displayed here, they are wonderful examples of the knifemaker's art. But for some reason I also enjoy knives with a "primitive" look. I'm a dabbler, not a serious knife maker like most folks here. I've found that my liking of primitive style knives and my lack of ability to produce a finely finished knife come together nicely (IMO) in my own knifemaking.

;)

Here's one I just finished up and I'm pretty pleased with her. Forged from a coil spring, 13.5" OAL, 7.5" blade 1/8th" thick. The handle is wrapped with paracord and dyed hemp. Flexible but tough, thin, light and sharp. Not a chopper, but a cutter. Full convex grind.

Hope you like her. :)

That's got a cool look about it. I guess the paracord makes it neo-primitive ;). Good work man, thanks for the pics.

I like it! Very interesting profile and I like the forge scale left on. Did you make a sheath for it?

I, too, am really drawn to the "primitive-look" knives, and I like what you've created. High-gloss and engraving aren't required to make a knife :)

Of course, there's also that warm, fuzzy you get when you make something yourself and start using it...!

Great job, make more
