"Primitive" Fire Starting Method

Here's a fire-starting method I haven't seen before. It may be "primitive" but appears simple (not easy) and uses minimal tools.

Awesome if one lives in Rattan country. The Fire Thong is an effective method.:thumbup:
 
it doesn't have to be rattan. All that's needed is a dry branch. You split it and peg it. The idea is the thong creates heat and builds up dust as it abrades past the sharp edges of the stick. Problem is, of course, that, like a hearth board, you have to keep making a new "notch" and you need a new thong. Using a dried spruce root will work. While such things are useful for making your Bic last a long time, a freznel lense is a lot handier.

More efficient than spinning a stick between hands and simple tools than a bow drill fire.
