I guess this qualifies as gadgets/gear...

I just ordered a new sleeping bag and it should be pretty sweet. I got a ridiculously good deal on it from Eastern Mountain Sports, but they sold out of it a few minutes after I ordered mine.

It's a 800-fill power down bag from Mountain Hardwear. Its claim to fame is that it uses a "welded" shell that's supposed to be waterproof. For a 20-degree down bag, it's on the heavy side at 3 lbs for the long size, but if the thing works as claimed, I'll be more than happy to carry the extra weight. I'm looking forward to receiving this thing so I can try it out; I hope I fit in it. Otherwise, guess I'll have one sleeping bag for sale.

Ok, here's a pic...

You can check it out here if you're inclined to do so

The guys at Backpacker seemed to like it

I'll post pics of this baby when I get it and let you fellas know how it works. It's still plenty cold here in Saskatchewan so I'll have some idea of the accuracy of the temp rating.
