Terry Primos - "Platypus" - I had a Platypus a few years ago and foolishly let it slip away. So when I saw this one I jumped on it. My old one was ironwood and a slightly different shape. I like this curly maple one much better. 3 1/2 inch forged 1084 with a nice visible hamon, about 7 1/2 overall. The hammer finish on the ricasso and along the top of the blade is a nice touch too.
I miss Terry Primos. Maybe he will return to knife making sometime if we are lucky. Feel free to post pictures of your Primos if you have'um.

That is a fine catch of a rare and very desirable knife! I love Terry's work, and I hope also that he can choose to return to knifemaking someday. His apprenticeship with Jerry Fisk and other Arkansas master bladesmiths comes through loud and clear in all his work.

Beautiful photo Rob.

Here's one I had and let go of...kick me running. It is a sweet little forged desk knife with smooth bone scales.

Man, I miss him, also. I picked up his personal camp knife in early 2006, and was so pleased with it, I immediately placed an order for a matching hunter. It was made from the last of his 1084 stock, and he was switching over to a different steel due to good 1084 becoming hard to find.

The walnut on the camp knife was some gun stock wood he got from Jerry Fisk. It has the hammer texturing and blackening like Rob's. He liked his camp knives light and fast and this one is 1/4-inch thick at the ricasso. Plus, very sharp!
