That is sweet! I love Terry's knives, his handles are great. You won't be dissapointed. Here is shot of mine.

Beautiful!!

One question on functionality:

For such a light-duty knife, is diff. tempering very important?
Also, if diff. tempering is going to be used, why not extend the softer spine farther forward; as it is it would not increase durability much.

No offense intended, I love the look of the temper line. The look by itself is plenty reason as far as I'm concerned. I'm just curious :)

Andrew,
In this case the differential heat-treating is pretty much just for the looks. So many people find that visible transition line aesthetically pleasing. That little jewel is not intended to be a pry bar.

Interestingly enough, even though I do so much differential heat-treating, I'd pretty much just as soon have a full-quenched blade. Heck even the camp knife I made for myself (10" blade) about 3 years ago is a full-quench job. When you get everything right, a full-quenched blade is tough as heck. It won't bend 90 degrees without breaking, but so far I haven't found any reason try to bend mine 90 degrees. It's tough enough that I doubt I coud break it without a cheater bar for leverage anyway.

Michael,
Hope you'll like it. I don't know if the dealer told you or not, but that one is one I forged in a demo at the "Hoorah Days" festival in DeQueen, Arkansas. Even if I were to make a hundred more of them, that one would always be a one-of-a-kind.

After you receive it, if you'd like, you can drop me a line and I'll make up some sort of letter or certificate to certify that it was done at the festival. You might want to hang onto that one for awhile.

Matt,
Your knife is showing up as a red X in a box. I don't remember making one of those. :D Yahoo must me acting up again.
