Hi, a great forum and my first posting.

I have just bought a job lot of 3x used knives off ebay.
I presume they are all Buck Prince 503's?

One has Buck, 503, USA on the blade with the upside down 'C' for 1997.

The other two though only have Buck, USA and the anvil icon for 2002 on the blade, but not 503 ?
They look almost alike but the two without 503 on the blade have slightly thicker bolsters when you lay them on their sides together.

Can any one shed any light on this please.
Thanks Rich.

Sounds like all 503's. Some of the Anvil (2002 year codes) did not have model #s on the blade. The difference in bolster thickness is sanding variations. The Length and blade shape are the key to model ID

Hope this helps,

Jeff

Thanks for your reply Jeff, was there any reason behind some blades not having model numbers in the 'Anvil' year, was it something to do with 100 years of Buck knives?
Thanks again, Rich.

Thanks again Jeff, i'm taking more of an interest in knives lately after being bitten by the 'Knife Bug' ! and also discovering ebay and online stores.
I have just added a 112FG to the collection and aspire to owning a Buck Strider 880SP folder if i can work out how to hide the credit card bill from the Mrs ! :D

yeah, the 112FG is a great knife isn't it? Great looking.

Good luck in with buying knives and the Mrs. It aint easy!
