Picked this guy up this weekend in hopes to try and complete my prince albert old timer ulster set. Now I got it for $5 bucks so there is no harm in it either way. But the question is that the tang of the blade says only " ULSTER USA 114. and the oval shield on the knife handle is blank but shaped just like the ones that should of said old timer. Is there some chance this was one of the old timer ulsters or would the tang stamp be different? I figured ulster probablly made there own that looked just like the OT but I wasnt positive. and I know shields get worn off but the rest of the knife handles dont look worn enough to have worn old timer off the shield. Any thoughts from the experts.

While we are waiting for the experts... I have Ulster 114's with blank shields and with ULSTER imprinted shields (Craftsman too). The ones used for the PA offer should have Old Timer on the shield, IMHO.

It appears to be the same pattern as the Ulster Old Timer camper model, but without the Old Timer shield, there's nothing to indicate your knife is or ever was an Old Timer. The Old Timer was not marked "114".

Here's a closeup of the Old Timer shield:

Also, notice that your handles are brown, and the Old Timer is black.

i can see the main blade has been sharpened heavily, and the left bolster is loose or broken. But the handle overall appears to be in good condition. I expect that if the shield were worn completely smooth, the jigging pattern would be too.

Bob - If that is your set, is there a pattern number on the camp knife? That's the best example I've seen. Good to hear from you.

Nope. I believe the only markings are those shown in the scan above.

It's only recently that research, done by the experts on this very forum, has confirmed the pattern to be 114OT. The Old Timer Camper was obviously the same pattern as the 114 Ulster, but it took some digging to find a written reference to "114OT".

Here's where Irv confirms the documentation for a "114OT"; the Camper had previously been listed as a "50OT":
