A picture of Prince Edward taken in the Terai sometime between December 14-21, 1921. This was his first trip to Nepal and his hunting party accounted for 18 tigers, 8 rhinos, 2 bears and 2 leopards. The trophies of which are still at Sandringham. The cloth strip lash-up for wearing the kukri is interesting. The other fellow is one of the Royal Family (Rana) but is not identified.

What does your trained eye see beyond the scabbard, John? Would the khukuri have likely be taken back to England as another trophy, or was the knife primarily utilitarian, and left behind along will all the other hunting gear?

The English royal family take any freeby they can get there hands on!

You can bet they have a few kuks stashed away!

Spiral ;)

These are purely utilitarian, but wouldn't it be nice to have these in a collection along with this photo? I'm sure the one presented to him was way over the top and is still buried in a Sandringham sub-basement along with the thousands of other weapons that never see the light of day.

Yea, that part of it is sad, but those were different times. Now look at Prince Charles. His one manor is a virtual wildlife sanctuary and is very eco friendly.

Times change. Back then nobody thought about stuff like that. Glad that people appreciate the beauty of wildlife walking around alive now.:D

Use of famous character's name, badly and probably intentionally misspelled.

Relevance to orginal post on this forum, tangential at best. Inflammatory content, 100%

Welcome to the Cantina, JC. Have a couple of drinks on me. Then piss on yourself.

I already banned one ( three times, and may have to do it a fourth time if my guess is correct ). If Uncle's back tomorrow, I'll give him the pleasure.

Another moderator's note: He apparently was much worse initially and went back and edited it.

This is why I was so careful to move posts that could cause people to be banned to the moderators only forum where they can be retained in their original full shamefulness.

Absolutely! :) However, in the meantime, we'd be happy seeing historic photos featuring a khukuri, and then a photo taken many years later of the khukuri seen in that photo...

Thanks, for the original post.

I agree with you, hollowdweller, with one notable exception of fauna.
The Canis lupus cyano-virids, last seen in your neck of the woods. :D
