Does any one have any experience with the diamond sharpening stones sold at Princess Auto? They are significantly cheaper than the DMT versions. I assume you get what you pay for, but I was wondering if the cheaper stones are a reasonable alternative. Thanks!

Hi Donny Dont. ( Maybe we're neighbors? Leave me a PM if you want)

I checked those stones out a couple of times, and balked because they seem to be way too coarse. Some of the cheaper continuos diamond coated metal plates ( remember House of Tools? LOL) turned out to be pretty good, but I don't know where you can find them now. I just caved in and forked out for the DMT's at Lee Valley, both the benchstones and diafold hones. Well worth the money and no regrets.

I balked too. There is not a lot of information about the stones on the package.

I left you a VM.

I bought a pack while on sale a couple of years ago.

Most of the abrasive comes off pretty quick, but I was able to use the coarsest grid one a couple of times for different jobs.

It lived in my waterstone bucket for a while. It was good for flattening.
