I make this knife for my wife. This Damascus blade is forged out of 1075 and 15n20 hi-carbon steel. It is heat treated, etched and polished. Blades are made one at a time, so no two are alike. 4-3/4" overall, 5/8" width, thickness 1/8". Handle material - Elder.

not sure what Axis horn is though. Also, wondering, is this knife used in home only or will it be carried? What kind of sheath was made for it? Nice looking and interesting piece.

Murray, the Axis deer is originally from India, but I feel sure the major world wide population of Axis is now centered in Kerr County, Texas. The urban myth is that Captain Eddie Rickenbacker (sp) imported a few and placed them on a ranch or his ranch just north of San Antonio, Texas in the Boerne, Texas area. There was a lot of rain and a flood and it washed a lot of the water gaps out and the few he had escaped into the surrounding hill country. They have flourised over the years and now may even out number the white tail around here. ,That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
