I was browsing through Campmor and I found some 'Princeton Tec Pulsar II' led lights for about $10.

They look similar to the Photons and I was wondering how they compare. Has anyone used them?

I have a white light Princeton Tec Pulsar on my keyring and it functions fine. However, my impression is that it is a lower quality imitation of the Photons. I'll get a Photon next time.

I got one a few weeks ago, and my Girlfriend now has it! I love that light. I know nothing about the different brands, so I can's peak of any comparisons. But the light is bright and on the boz it says the batteries will last 12-14 hours of continuous on. For $10, go for it.

I've used both the Photon II and the Pulsar II. I think the Photon is somewhat better made, but I doubt the differences are practical ones. The Pulsar II is a good value on a bright, reliable light.

I have a Pulsar I, as does my girlfriend, and my brother owns a Pulsar II (courtesy of me). I've had no problems with mine, and consider it the brightest of the coin cell lights I've tried (brighter than my Inova, and brighter than a friend's Photon, barely). Though it is a little harder to squeeze than the Photon, which may matter for people with less finger strength, especially those with arthritis, or of very small build. For example, my gf has trouble with hers for extended periods of time, but I do not. The switch on the II is very positive, and worth the extra few bucks, IMO. I like it's larger size over the Photon II, as it doesn't necessitate using a nail (in my experience).

I like mine. I think they're worth picking up on a deal, especially for gifts. Awhile back, Campmor in Paramus, NJ had some blue II's on sale, as they were cosmetic seconds. Don't know how many they have left now, as they were running out last time I was there, which was a few weeks ago.

I was checking out the Photon II vs. Princeton I and I bought the photon II for about $15. The Princeton was on sale for about $6. I could have had 2 for the price I paid, but felt the photon II was more than twice as good. Just my $.02. BTw they were $6 at Bass pro shops. They may be on sale on thier website too?

The Pulsar I is super bright and very small. I like it very much. I just got their 3 LED Attitude and it is very bright and small for a 4cell AAA. 150 hrs burn time.

I have owned and used many LED lights. I will not buy another pulsar after 3 broke within 3-4 months of being on various keychains (my keychain, my wife's and my mother's). We now all have Photon IIs and have had no problems. I also like the CMG task light, but it is a bit big & heavy for keychain use (esp. if you have a lot of keys). The advantage to it is that it uses (1) AA battery (get lithium ones for even better performance) and is very water 'proof'. I have (2) CMGs, one attached to my map case for military use (I am in the reserves), and one attached to the "gear-loft" inside my tent. I also have a Photon II on the zipper-pull of my sleeping bag. - just my $0.02.

The biggest difference is the Photon2's and 3's have switches to make them stay on if you want. They all use the same LED setup and same battery configuration. So to say one is brighter is usually a factor of how much the battery is used. The LED's themselves can vary by about 5% so that can also be a factor. All in all, the Photons are built a little bit better, but if you’re like me you'll probably loose it before you break it :)

I have a Pulsar 1 and my wife has a Photon. My pulsar is brighter but harder to squeeze on. The photon looks to be built tougher but I have not had any problems with the pulsar. The next one I am going to pick up will be the pulsar 2 with the switch.
