Printing text into book format

If I have text. Say it is a short story. Could a regular copycenter be able to print it into a reasonably book like format? I guess the best I could hope for at a resonable price would be something that could be folded into a pamphlet.

Even a simple looseleaf binder idea would be O:K: to keep costs down. I am more interested in an easy to read and artistic font than anything else. That would be the simplest idea. Where can I go from there without becoming too complex for a copycenter? One of the workers at a copycenter treats me pretty well and so may be wlling to go the extra mile.

This would be three or four thirty page short stories. One copy.

If you have a printer at home you may be able to print it into folio pages and then assemble them into a book...

I know the laser we have at work will print into many formats including a quad page (which I don't recall the name for), folio, pamphlet etc etc. If you took those to the copy center and had them make 3 or four copies it might be cheaper...

Quad page? I realise even moving up to a pamphlet is a big step up in complexity. It is good to know at least some copycenters are equipped for it.

I will wait a little while to see if anyone has any different ideas from other personal experiences and then take the plunge.

Copy centers should all have at least a comb binder. Heck, many schools and offices have a comb binder. Usually you use a heavier stock or plastic sheets for the covers. You could even just use a heavy duty stapler to bind it instead of the plastic combs. Both of these are easy enough to do for just one copy. There's not really any special setup.

Around here, I'd go to a Fedex/Kinkos, UPS Store, Staples, Office Depot, etc.

I may try to go with something a little more stylish than that . Its not a bad Idea. If I do not get an idea that appeals to me I would prefer an artistic legible font in a Medeval style portfolio. I already have a leather book cover that may serve that purpose.

Thanks for the idea.

Microsoft Publisher has a book format. A copy shop will print, staple, tape and attach an edge cover.
