You have to get them sorted out.

On Saturday, had to go to the ER due to big chest pains, tightness in chest, hard to breath, racing pulse, and all that jazz.
So before calling a cab to the hospital, it was brush my teeth, and select a knife; chose the ZT 0392PURBLCWC (hey, if I'm heading off this planet, it's gonna be with fresh breath and a nice knife ).

Today was a day off work to go for the echo stress test.
Hmm, that might be tough...so I chose the Spyderco Tuff to go with me (along with the usual Emerson Karambit in left pocket because hey, karambit! :D ).

So yeah, you got to have your priorities in life figured out.
Think I've got it all dialed in.

(Tests turned out okay, and the hospital grade anti-inflammatory they injected me with on Saturday made my right shoulder feel like I could bench press a bus, so it's all good ;) ).

And because pics, here's a hospital knife from some years back.
Figured the toxic green scales would help in case of zombie outbreak or whatever. :D

Priorities are important and you have to figure them out for yourself. Health is Number Uno! You only go around once. Knives..... I'd have a SAK with me going to the hospital or hospital emergency room.

Years ago, I was working a pretty high stress job. I really didn't see it as high stress but my body told me different. I was like 23 years old and suffering chest pains, shortness of breath, no strength what's so ever.... scared me to death! I was working out of town and I headed for the motel where the owner's wife was a nurse. After checking my vitals and things seemed okay, she forced me to drink like 5 ounces of whisky and I don't even like the stuff... Calm down!

I went to the doctor about a week later and he did the EKG thing and prescribed a depressant drug (unlimited re-fills). My how things have changed!

For sure. Now they're afraid to prescribe almost anything.

My way of handling stress has been to stop giving a crap about a lot of things.
I see people getting stressed out around me at work all the time, but I just don't really care what happens with it at all.

Health problems at any age are awful, but you can mitigate an awful lot with proper maintenance. It works for knives, it works for hearts. Time to hit the yoga class, it will get you fit, help you relax, and you get to spend an hour or so with a bunch of women in tights--this also helps with de-stressing. Proper knife attire will tend towards the heavily rust-resistant steels, and I find the H1 in the Spyderco Salt series is virtually immune to sweat with a little rinse every so often. Then as long as you have had your teeth brushed, you are set. I would also add that it's important to be wearing clean, hole-free underwear before going to the hospital, those damn gowns are already drafty enough on the backside.

Wow. I hope you’re ok.
I had a very similar experience last year. Tightness in the chest, struggling to breath and heart racing.
I was out biking on a river trail at the time and had my Delica with me. So that’s what accompanied me to the hospital.
After a battery of tests it turned out it wasn’t my heart at all but a severe asthma attack.

Wow, scary stuff. Glad you are okay. From your protracted knife reviews (which I thoroughly enjoy), you look to be a fairly healthy and active guy. You gotta survive long enough to review the first Medford slipjoint.

Even when you need it. Doctors will say.... this is not a pain management clinic.... I see them as shirking their responsibility.

It is the well advertised consequence of having politicians and bureaucrats calling the shots on best medical practices. Everyone saw this coming.

All good observations. :D

Always good to find out what's going on.

Yep, they got a sign saying no narcotic refills due to all the people who came in looking for a fix.
Once again, some folks manage to screw it up for everyone else. :(

For sure! :D
With the slim Marauder and other smaller knives, wouldn't be altogether surprised to see such a thing in a few years time. ;)
