Does my normal, everyday, basic membership, not allow me to send private messages to other members???
 
General Knife Discussion is for discussing knives.
Tech Support is for Bladeforums technical questions -- how to ask about what, and where.

Registerer User is the lowest level of membership. It does not provide Private Messages. It does allow Visitor Messages and email.

Basic membership is the next level up. It allows 5 Private Messages.

What exactly is that supposed to mean? Or are you just jumping in because the forum grand poobah decided to take me to task over a perfectly innocent remark? I'm 69 years old...we didn't say "whatever" back then or, for that matter call it middle school. If you guys want to demonstrate how powerful and untouchable you are, and what you can do to us plebeians, with impunity...knock yourselves out. Words can't express how little anything you say or do, or your, oh so important forum, significantly affects my quality of life. Do what you must, but I won't keep my mouth shut while you treat me like a 16 year old.

Well, I don't know where you guys are coming from. Everyone has taken my one word remark and turned it into something that it was not... as "snide" or smart-alecky, when for me it was more like a shrug.

How do I get a Basic...

Those would have been replies that folks would happy to respond to. "whatever" sounds exactlly like a 16-year-old. Text doesn't covey emotion very well. You have to put a bit more effort into it.

Sixty-nine years old? I'm 71. "Whatever" sounded to me like you weren't happy I went to the trouble to explain the system. Would you have been happier if I ignored you? I imagine I will, after this.
 
Looking at the recent post history, its probably a moot point Esav. Confrontational does define a little bit.
