So I got the chance to get away and do a little camping this weekend. I decided to take a long my Pro 6-5 and try using that instead of my ZT 301 that is usually in my pocket.
I used the new Kydex sheath and positioned the knife upside down for easy deployment. The problem I had was I still took my ZT with me. So everytime I reached in that direction for a knife, I would pull my ZT out of habit. Eventually I just had to put my ZT away to get myself in the habit of drawing the Pro 6-5.
The knife and sheath system worked incredibly well. The knife was easy to draw and return back to the sheath. It stayed in the sheath hard enough that I never once worried about it falling out. I used the knife mostly for opening packages, cutting rope and cutting up some smaller wood for the fire. I did put it through some harder use on a few sticks, just to see if there were any hot spots. I have big hands and I had no problems.
The knife cut everything flawlessly and was still damn sharp at the end of the trip. Once my folder was out of my pocket, it was an easy transition to using the Pro 6-5. I will definitely be carrying it a lot more in the future as I transition it to my EDC.
