Just a little bit on one of only two larger knives that I still own. This is one of the Fiddleback mid-tech field knives, AKA the Pro-Duke. This is the big brother to one of my favorite Fiddlebacks, the Pro-Kephart. This just a short outing yesterday before the ice tonight. A more detailed review will be coming later. Enjoy the pics.

Knife Specifications
Blade Length: 5.5 Inches
Handle Length: 5 Inches
Blade Metal: 5/32" Thick CPM S35VN
Handle Material: Black Canvas Micarta or Natural Canvas Micarta
Tang: Skeletonized Full
Grind: Flat
Weight: 8.5 oz.

Consider it the modern bowie for todays outdoorsman. The Duke is very well balanced for a robust knife. I think it would be a good choice for a survival type knife, big game mountain knife or just the 1-knife carry. It does have a few others in the size that do give it real competition. One is the Esee 6 and the other is the Koster Bushmaster. This Esee is in a really good steel (1095) and the Koster is in a great steel (3v). Both have good balance as well as good fit and finish similar to the Fiddleback. However if your in a humid or snow/rainy area, the s35vn would definitely have an advantage due to it being a good stainless steel. If you're looking for a higher-end big user knife, you wouldn't go wrong with the Pro-Duke.

Torture test and it survived with no edge rolling or tip breakage. Everyone knows the blue solo cups are much tougher that the standard red ones. :D

Handled one, nice knife, a lot more controllable and versatile than one might think.

Hi,

Would it be possible to show a comparison picture of the handle scale thickness between the Pro Duke and the Pro Kephart please?

I have the Pro Kephart and like the handle very much, does the Pro Duke have more overall girth in the palm? It wouldn't be a problem if it did, I might like just a little more.

I have a BHK Scout Platoon which is very comfy in hand and a similar blade profile but could do with something similar in stainless for the reasons you mention.

All the best, Baz

yea I'll get the duke, kephart and bushfinger out for a pic asap.

I might need to get a Duke, all sold out on the Fiddleback website. I'll contact them in the coming week to see if they will have anymore available in the future although I recall reading somewhere something about the pro line being phased out...or did I dream that.

Great looking knife! I never had one of these, but several other pro models.....I should have kept them! I really miss the Camp Knife!

I’ve given up buy ion got knives for a while, but this one will be on my radar!~

Hey brother, since we've known each other for a while, if you want to borrow mine to see how you like it just let me know.
