While looking at the Pro-Grip Lightweight listing on the Spyderco.com web site, it seems that this knife now comes in plain edge!? Is this so, or am I nuts? It used to just be available in 50/50, right?
Thanks in advance.

The Pro-Grips are both now available in plain edge. I think that the decision was in part due to the Wegner Jr. being discontinued and the popularity of the plain edge in that knife. Of course I may be wrong

Ooops, sorry Dennis. I posted the above from work yesterday and was relying on memory (always a mistake at my age

). I checked this morning and I think it is only the lightweight Pro-Grip which is available in plain edge, the stainless model is still listed as 40/60.

Too bad. I have never purchased a serrated knife other than a cheesy steak knife and I never will...either combo or straight serrated.

No serrated knives!!!!!??????

Your missing out. Nothing better to cut a rope with, or a seatbelt in an emergency than a Spyderco with the "Spyderedge" blade

My favorite serrated blades are:

Merlin
Mariner
Rescue

Hi Mnblade. Didn't mean to ignore you. been "on the road" and getting on line is often not possible.

The Pro Grip is and will indeed be produced with a plain edge.

This may sound like a sales plug, but serrated edges made by Spyderco do in fact perform more effectively and certainly for longer than plain edges do in many of the difficult daily cutting chores.

I would also like to say that we pay more attention than most when it comes to making those serrated edges cut fiercly and reliably. This ability has saved many lives. A Little Rescue jr, tucked away is a lot of shear cutting power in a very small, non intimidating, vefry lite weight package.
