this thread is for professional photos only of knives from 2011's Art Knife Invitational.

If you have pro quality photos of any knives from the show, please post them here.

I know that there are several threads about the AKI already, with photos, but I thought it would make sense to give the photos their own thread, y'know to make it easy for people to find and for posterity.

I'll start off with John W. Smith's 3 knives from the show;

Wow, great idea for a thread, Lorien. Thank you--beautiful!

Those are some of the nicest JWS's I've ever seen. His stuff just seems to evolve higher and higher.

Is the little pointed flair coming off the top line, rearward on the handle, on the two Loerchner's functional in some way, or purely decorative?

Thanks again,
Will

Edited to say: My apologies if posting comments in this thread is a no-no. Didn't occur to me until I'd already posted.

Will, that is the lock release.
I don't see why posting comments would be a no-no, sorry if I gave that impression:o

Will, that is the lock release.

Thanks, Lorien. That seemed likely to me, but the look is so pure and integral to the lines of the Loerchners that I wasn't sure. No doubt that was his (well-realized) intent. :)

updated Wolfe's photos. Thank you Francesco!

Wow, that Wolfe SanFrancisco knife is really something. Very lean and unadorned for the genre, but stunning nonetheless.

Roger

Love the Pro photos Lorien. Thank You.

Man, I've spent the last 20 minutes looking at Wolfs work. Simply unbelievable! I hope it rubs off on me if I stare long enough.

He even mirrors the damascus pattern in the inlays, just look at that folding dagger!!!! Amazing work!!!!!!!

Great stuff, thanks for posting, shows me all of the stuff I did not get at the AKI!

Steve posted this beauty over on the CKCA forum a while back. Here's Steve's discription:

"Here is "Christine's Fighter," named after our oldest daughter. Full-integral, BG-42. Barry Lee Hands worked his magic again! (Even on the front of the guard!)
We are talking about doing one for each of the next 4 AKI shows, with another daughter's name, 4 more to go, with ours and Barry's." Point 7 images.

Lorien, good idea!
I have been posting the pictures Francesco Pachi took at the AKI

move them here and add to them all the others too...

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

This is Harvey Dean's "Vintage Bowie"

Sweet, that push dagger is a beauty. Did Francesco shot Larry's two headed goblin as well? I sure hope so.

Marcel

Great stuff - glad we're getting a good look at some of these fine pieces.

As far as I know, he did not.... Maybe Eric Eggly of PointSeven
got to shoot it before the show for use in the catalog...

All the best,

Thanks David, I'll have to be content with the catalog photo then.
