I'm about to pull the trigger on a CQC-7 with the spearpoint blade, and I'm incredibly curious if it's a chisel ground or V ground blade.

It is a V- ground blade. It's not made by Emerson. As far as i know, knives made exclusively by him have the a true chisel ground edge, such as found on the Bulldog, CQC7/6 or a cutting edge that is only sharpened on one side (chisel edge). Different terms for different things. Also, a quick Google search shows dozens of pictures of the knives from both sides.

I've got an Emerson CQC-7 with a V ground tanto blade, and a chisel edge. From what I gather that combination isn't that common.

I was kinda curious to try a chisel blade, I guess I'll just have to get a traditional Emerson!

Let me clarify my earlier statement. The CQC7A (spear point) is a V edge. The regular model (tanto) is in fact a chisel ground blade. Flat on one side and steep grinds on the other. Still a great knife, I have one and i love it.

Ok, thanks.

I tried Google first, but I guess I overlooked all the pictures of the back side of spear point blades.

It's not really a deal breaker either way, I was just really curious.

It is worth the asking price, very reasonable for what you get. Give it a shot. You will not be disappointed if you already own and like Emerson knives. The quality is there.
