Pro Tool Apache Bolo

The Apache Bolo looks very close to Fiddlebacks.
I've tried something similar to JEST Bolo and found it's a lot less tiring to use around the rainforest here- maybe it's the slight recurve or probably just my preferences. The belly made heavy chopping possible and the drop for slashing through heavy bushes.

Bearthedog made a thread about this profile when he traveled down to Mabuhayland. A bolo or a parang for SEA forest and i'm happy to stay overnight inside.

The Apache is 1/4" inch . The JEST Bolo is more of a machete than the Apache and is a lot cheaper. They are all US made.I really like the kydex sheath with a Tek-Lok. The JC1 Combat Survival knife looks awesome too. I see that the Praesidio Commander
comes with a heavy nylon sheath with an insert. I''m less impressed with that sheath.

People spend close to that for a reground machete from El Salvador. The JEST seems like a reasonable price.

I like the look of the JEST and plan on getting one in to trial to see if it's a good match for the shop. The other designs that they came out with are interesting but I think they should have focused on more economical machete-like designs to start, given their present brand image and market positioning. It's great that they came out with a reasonably affordable vesuri, for instance. I think they have the potential to be the Council Tool of machetes, and if they're willing I'd like to help steer them more in that direction. I've had some good dialog with them so far so we'll see if anything comes of it. :)

I think you're right. I really like the direction they've taken. I'd be interested in seeing what you think of the JEST. They're made in my home state, so I may be a bit biased.

" Heat-treated to Rockwell C-47; 1075 High Carbon Steel with Black Powder Coating" A rockwell of C-47? Thats way to soft for my taste, i hope its a misprint and is actually at least 54.

I agree that it's quite low. I know the HT on the original Woodman's Pal models is pretty dang soft. The Apache Bolo is listed as 54/56, however, which is right where it should be.

Here are the specs on the Apache Bolo.

Does any one know where to by Pro Tool products from a dealer ?
Like some of their Stuff, but don,t want to pay full retail prices.

I wouldn't pay the prices that company's asking for any of their products, but they do have some interesting designs.

$250 is very pricey for not a lot of knife considering i have a custom knife and custom sheath for $240

I wouldn't say it's not a lot of knife. I've seen it for as low a $135.00.
