Probably a Dumb Question

Just got a new large 21 in the mail today, a belated Father's Day gift from my daughter in Germany. :D

My question is about the mechanics. I have owned 4 of these babies and each one made a very audible, kinda snapping sound when the blade was opened and they were pretty stiff too. On closing they all made the metallic sound, like metal on metal.

This Sebenza is as smooth as silk, opens like butter but is very quiet. It locks up about 65 - 70% and is solid in all directions.

I don't know whether hop in the air and click my heels over not having a thumb banging break-in period or to worry about how smooth and silent the operation of the knife is.

Anyone care to weigh in plz? :)

Wow this was my 5000th post. I'l have to have GAW but it won't be one of my Sebenzas!

Some of mine are like that at times then other times they have a think. I have noticed the thunk when my hand is putting more pressure on the lock bar.
Oh and that was a very thoughtful Father's Day gift. Make sure you keep that one in the stable.

Mine makes the sounds you mention, but if there is no problem(lockup good, no blade play, easy to close) I would not worry . The lock up is within the proper range for a Sebenza. Not exactly sure what causes the lockbar noise as it pops into position. The metal on metal seems to be when the blade sets on the stop pin in the closed position. If latter something comes up, you can always send it in then. Until then enjoy your smooth knife
