Probably NOT going to Blade...

I had sold a good bit of my knives to fund my lifelong dream trip to Blade this year. Unfortunately, a friend of mine who's a mother of four and semi-recently divorced has run into some really hard times. I know she needs the money more for her and her kids, ages 2-10, than I need to go look at knives, so I gave her the money I had set aside for airfare and hotel expenses. I'm not usually so charitable, but her husband left her with nothing, isn't paying the ordered child support and her only other option is to go back into a shelter...

I was really looking forward to meeting you all soon, but it looks like 2014 will be my year instead. Oh well, it will give me a little more time to stack some cash, going there without much money would be like going to Wonka's chocolate factory without taste buds, or at least pockets to stuff full of candy :D

I hope 2014 is your year ! That's true friendship, putting someone before oneself, good for you.

let me know if I can help out somehow. show tickets are relatively cheap, so I wouldn't mind covering for you. maybe you can catch a ride from someone (though CA is pretty far); same for a room. all you have to do is ask, but sometimes people come on here with open invitations

Bring them to Blade! Seriously, what Andy said. The universe has a way of giving back tenfold.

Thanks Gary, that's very kind of you. I'm thinking next year will be it. After my accident last April and lately with my brain stuff, I've felt under pressure to get my "bucket list" done, but I'm starting to think I may have a bit more time left than I had been thinking.

And really, I'd rather have more moolah for the tables, anyway.

I always enjoy helping people and that's what really matters in life, not money.

Very nice of you to make that sacrifice it says a lot for your character.

Good on you. You have your priorities straight. If you ever get to the Blade Show, I would like to buy you a drink or a dinner. Just PM me.

Good on you! I hope to make it to Blade someday as well. Your reasons for not making this year are way more admirable than mine. Again, Good On You!

:thumbup:That's a wonderful thing you did. Hope you are rewarded tenfold, and you have a great time at blade next year!:)

Good for you Dan. We can only have so many things anyway. I've had some thing in life put in perspective recently and what you are saying could not be any more true. You have done a priceless gesture and I'm sure will receive a priceless reward if you haven't already received it. Not that it was done for any reward in the first place.

Very Generous gesture. I knew there were still good people in this world! Brother we live in the same city, I will personally by you a beer and a dinner for that gesture!
