Problem sharpening PM2 on the Wicked Edge

I have attempted to recreate the sharpening and the angles on my ParaMilitary 2 that Clay Allison does in his YouTube video of the PM2. However when I attempt to set it up to the same settings, I have found the right stone scrapes the vise where the belly of the blade begins its sweep and does not contact the knife.

I'm using an angle cube to set the stones at 15deg and the knife is in the bottom holes to B on the alignment guide. My WE is the pro pack 1 and the vise is stock.

My question is this - is 15deg just not feasible or is there a better way to situate the knife? And if 15deg isn't feasible - which angle would allow the knife to be a good slicer?

If it's hitting the clamps when using the bottom holes I'd guess you need to try the top holes.

+1 on Nullity's suggestion - I'm on the road but I'm pretty sure that the top holes is what I use on mine and at 34 inclusive but 30 should be doable I would think. Don't recall my alignment. I see on Wicked Edge's knife wiki that someone is doing it at 15, bottom and B.5 - I imagine that far forward to get clear of the vise (this seems a little far forward to keep the bevels nice and even to me) Another entry for the bottom holes is a.5 and 19-20 - a.5 seems closer to the right spot and the wider angle to clear the vise

And here's the thing, I just looked at the video and it appears to me (maybe just maybe) that Clay doesn't have the spine resting on both pins of the depth guide. Now I am on the road and don't have my PM2 or WEPS along to mount up and look at, but if you look at about 5:30 in the first part when he turns the knife so the blade face is back toward the camera it looks like the spine is actually sloping up so that the knife is sitting so the cutting edge is about horizontal. Doing that would get you up clear of the vise

Bob - you are right on target here. I sharpen my PM2 in exactly this fashion and it works like a charm. As a matter of fact, I put a 26 degree primary bevel on my Grey 20CP Sprint on the WEPS. I had to micro-adjust the positioning of the blade to avoid the clamp - but it is certainly possible.

Maybe I missed it - but does anyone know when Clay is planning to introduce his "zero angle" clamp accessory?

Ok, so after reading y'all's replies, and watching the video again.... I went with top holes, B on the alignment guide, and the spine touching both prongs of the depth key (for repeatability). Then I set my angles for 34deg inclusive. Worked like a charm. Thanks for the guidance guys!

Awesome - glad you got it worked out!

TedP - I bet it is just screaming sharp at 26 - how does it hold up for you?

I don't think you have missed anything. It has been a while since I have seen Clay working with the "Zero Angle" accessory and I can't honestly say what the plans are, or even if that design was working the way he had hoped. My guess is it just got pushed down the list with the new commercial sharpener prototyping and the chisel attachment. He just got a 3d printer (cool!) and we were visiting last week about serration sharpeners he was trying out with that. So, with easier prototyping I bet the zero angle will be able to come about a bit quicker. When I get back to the office Thursday I'll follow up with him to see what I can find out.

Speaking of micro adjusting the blade tilt when you rest the spine on only one pin - there was a great suggestion on the Wicked Edge forum from Larry at SW Florida holsters of a way to make that positioning repeatable using a drafting triangle - check it out
