I got my AS half a year ago, I love it and carry it as EDC. Recently there's a problem with the sheath. Two of the rings on the sheath (where the paracord goes through) are broken. The sheath is still tight because there's a little metal left on the ring but I don't know how long it can last. Does anyone know where can I get such rings and how to install them on the sheath by myself?

Huh -- Here's a link to TX Knifemaker's Supply. There is a "Kydex Eyelets" link in the right hand column. I'm not sure about installing them, so hopefully one of our forum kydex sheath makers will share that bit of knowledge.
Good luck with the fix!:D

for an easier fix, and different look drill out whats left of the eyelets and replace with chicago screws. Ive read this is preferred method of some makers because of easy clean out of sheath.

I think the kydex on the AS is probably too thin for all the chicago screws I've ever seen (if you know of any that thin please let me know ;) ). TKS is a good place for the eyelets. You may have to drill a different sized hole for them.

Alternative #1: A shoe repair or leather shop should be able to set a couple of eyelets for you. They are a common fastener in the leather world.

Alternative #2: Send it back to Busse to have them fix it up for you.

Alternative #3: You can "weld" kydex pieces together with tetrahydrofuran (THF) as noted in thread linked below. However, if you decide to use THF (or even MEK) be SURE to read the MSDS on the chemical. The MSDS for THF is linked from thread below. THF in particular can mess you up bad. Massive ventilation or working outdoors is the minimum called for.

BTW, I know what you mean about the AS being super for EDC. Mine has literally been a 24x7 friend around my neck since they were first released. It is ALWAYS with me. FWIW the retention was a bit sloppy on my AS sheath as it came from the shop. So I tweeked it with a heat gun to tighten it up.

(edited to add)
Alternative #4: To replace the eyelets yourself, you can get eyelets at hobby, craft, or leatherworking stores, along with the anvil & setting tool/punch.

I've never had any problems with my ass sheath.
Must be because I never put any thing in it;)

sorry...forgot the ' :D

Thanks a lot! I will try to find a local shoe-repairing store first.

I am also considering getting a custom sheath for the assault shaker--it deserves a better sheath since I always carry it. Does anyone know any sheath makers with a decent price? And do I have to send the knife in to make it a sheath?

Hiya Andrew!!!

Ya gotta put a speed restrictor on that brain o' yers. It's crankin' out just WAY too many ideas these days! ;) :D

You should be able to get THF-based plastic cements at a plumbing contractor supply house. Won't necessarily be pure THF, but will hopefully come close enough to melt kydex for ya (and your lungs if you ain't real careful, so Let's Be Careful Out There!!!)

got a shoe repair store today. Thanks guys.

BTW: This knife is great for EDC. I am not sure whether Jerry designed so: the grind of the near-handle part is thin and shaving sharp, while the grind of the tip part is thick and very strong. Everyone should have some salt everyday. :D
----though I still can't figure out which side of the edge is the busse edge...
