Problem with Buck Hartsook

I just got my Buck Hartsook in the mail today and when I pulled it out of the box, the coating immediately started dying my hands black. I'm not sure why, but has anyone else had this problem? Is it just excess coating, or is the coating applied wrong? It's kind of bugging the crap out of me.
 
Wash it with soap, hot water and a toothbrush...if the finish stays intact and doesn't get on your hands you're gtg...Isnt the one with the finish made from S30V? I'd rather not have the finish on that one anyway.
 
Yeah, it is S30V. They don't offer the Hartsook with a non-coated S30V blade. They have a non-coated 420HC version (the Smidgeon). Thanks for the tip. I will definitely try that.
 
YW. Yeah that's what I figured with the finish. I've got the 420hc version, very handy little knife.
