Problem with LM Charge TTi clip-point knife

Granted, I'm probably just being picky, but I guess I want everything to work the way it's supposed to given the price we all pay for these things.

I just received a new Leatherman Charge TTi multi-tool. It is my first multi-tool, but far from the first knife I've ever owned. I am impressed with the mechanics, feel, quality and build of the knife in general, but I've encountered one nagging little problem that I just can't quite get over.

The clip-point S30V blade that comes on the TTi is supposed to have one hand opening capabilities. It is clearly designed that way, but for some reason mine is really stiff and cannot be opened unless two hands are used. I tried adding some oil, but that didn't work, and I'm afraid that the only solution is to mess around with the joint tightness, something I'm not exactly willing/able to do. All the other blades (serrated, file, saw) open very easily.

Has anybody else had this problem? Is this something that might go away with time?

Thanks in advance,

Jake

Some tools do ship slightly tight and loosen up with use. However, your TTi sounds like it has been overly tightened from the factory. Whilst a new TTi can be tight, you should still be able to open the main blade one handed.

It is an easy adjustment provided you have a pair of torx 10 security bits. If not, return to your retailer as a faulty unit or direct to Leatherman for adjustment.

You can usually find such bits in a set from Harbor Freight for 3 or 4 bucks a set.

Where might I find some torx security bits?

I assume you are in the US. If so, I cannot really help as I am in the UK and bought mine locally from a hardware store.

I can only suggest you do a search on the net for torx 10 security or tamperproof bits.

Hopefully someone else on this forum may be able to help.

Yes, in the US.. saw you were from the UK only after I posted my reply. I am going to head to a local hardware store after work and see if they can't help me out.

Jake - looked at some of the stuff on Harbor Freight, are you referring to the large sets?
