problem with my new knife..help!!!!!!!!!!

hey everybody....i recently got a needs work folder....it's my first kershaw....it is great...well it was....i was sharpening it tonight and i was almost done and i closed it as usual to open it....the action of the speed assist is great...well it was...it doesn't work right anymore....this is my only folder so i don't know what all the parts are called but here goes......the thin piece of metal that moves inside to hold the knife open.....the liner lock ...is that the right word.......wen you flip the little tab to open it....it opens about 3/4 of the way and stops.....when you pull it to lock the blade.....the thin piece of metal(liner lock?) looks like it it over to far....almost like it is separating from the handle slab.....somebody please help....i don't know what to do......ryan
 
i forgot to add...when you try and close the knife...it is hard to push the lock over to close the blade....it is definately over too far....help....ryan

first, did you hear a pop or anything? if you did, that was the torsion bar going out. it may be damaged (the bar).

second, just open the knife up and take out the torsion bar. the same thing happened with my blur awhile back. one of the liners kinda "popping" out. taking the bar out should solve it.

third, there is always calling Kershaw ya know and sending it in.

lets us know what happens
 
i didn't hear a pop ....i probably can't really do anything to fix it myself....might just have to send it back......ryan
