Problem with my new native

Bad news. I got my new BF.com Native at the show on friday, and as I look at the edge under light it has 3 good size chips in it. and 3 or 4 smaller ones. Normally I would just say "This is why I don't like Stainless steels" again, but this knife is brand new. All I have cut with it is cardboard and cookie dough. Also, I checked the cardboard for staples. Not one. And the cookie dough had been in the fridge for the past week or so. I'm starting to get worried.

Anyway, is anyone else having these problems? Or is it that they are just that they were sharpened too thin.

BTW: Just to make sure we are all on the same page, this is the 440V one.

Sincerely,
Adam

Well, that doesn't sound too good. Did you get any kind of reply back from anyone yet, via e-mail or such? I haven't gotten mine yet, since I didn't get to go to the Blade Show. I was very disappointed that it was waiting in the mail for me when I got back from my vacation, but then got the announcement about them being held up for people to pick up at the show. Bummer.

Anyway, I am very interested in hearing how this turned out (if it has turned out yet).

Adam,
It was good to meet you at the Blade Show. You might want to post this on the BF Store forum, since you bought it from them. They have some left and I'm sure they will try to help you out.

Well, I'm starting to think that I got it that way. Maybe it got banged up a bit before it left the factory of something like that. Because the chips were there when I looked at it closely the first time. And since then I've sharpened it and it has been fine.

BTW: nope, no reply via E-mail or such. I almost forgot I made this thread until I got
2 notices that people had posted here.

Sincerely,
Adam

Adam - I think that Spyderco would be able to help you faster than BF. Also we'd like to see the knife to determine what happened.

Hmmm. Was that chocolate *chip* cookie dough?

If you sent me an email I don't believe I received it. Please write and I will give you directions to send it in! We'll ship-shape it up for you.

Danelle, thanks for the offer. But after I sharpened it for the first time and got the origonal chips out the knife has been doing great. Not one new one. And I even used it to open about 10 bags of dried cement. Not one chip. Of course the edge was dulled but what else should you expect?

Anyhow, if the edge chips out badly again with only light use then I'll drop you an e-mail.

Sincerely,
Adam

I have the same problem with one of my BF Native as Adamantium only worse. But, upon closer examination it turns out that I have a serrated version. Never mind.

I have nothing of the sort on my BF Native - oh wait I haven't received it yet (whine whine whine...I knew I should have went to the Blade show).

LOL, you guys are too funny.

Adam, glad to hear that sharpening your knife squared you away. I must have missed your emails, so I apologize.
