Problem With My Sebenza

I have had my large sebenza for about a month now and I have been playing with it a lot. The thumb stud is already losing some of its blue from playing with it so much. The problem is that my sebenza hasn't really 'broken in' yet. It is not consistantly smooth and it also makes a rubbing-scraping noise when opened/closed.

I am pretty sure that it is the detent that is causing the problem because when I lift the lock bar off of the tang, it is as smooth as butter.

Any suggestions on how to fix this problem? Sending it to CRK is kind of my last resort.

Take it apart. Clean off every part, i use alcohol prep swabs to clean my knives. Re-lube with CRK Flourinated Grease. Re-assemble. my small insingo was a little rough out of the box but once i cleaned and relubed it it was smooth as silk and that hasn't changed.

I definitely don't have a pinched washer. The problem is the detent ball.

Also make sure the pocket clip wasn't bent towards the locking bar. With the blade open, the pocket clip should have enough pressure to just rest on the locking bar. It shouldn't add any force to it.

No thats not the problem.

I'm guessing that it is just a build up of grime. I have taken it down and wiped down before, but I have not actually cleaned it. I am going to clean it pretty soon.

Thoroughly cleaned and lubed it. A lot better now.

Thanks for the help guys.

One of my Sebenzas did that, it made a real nasty noise as the detent traveled (draged) over the blade. I cleaned the knife up and it did little to help but the knife wore its self back in after a week or so. I have no idea what caused it as the knife was a year or so old, it's all good now though.
