Hello, folks,
Recently I started having problems with reading the forums; the text boxes, balloons, or whatever you call them that come up when you hover over a thread title will pop up, disappear, and then come back on in a second or two. Maybe the best description is that they "blink" before they come up and stay. And, they don't "blink" every time, sometimes they come up and stay like they are supposed to, on the same page as the "blinking" ones. This is a little thing, but it is driving me crazy! It is also happening on one other forum I visit, so it is my computer, rather than this board.
Another thing that is new, is that if I click on a link, and let it load while I click on another window to read that one to wait for the first one to load, the first window pops back to the top when the page finishes loading, rather than waiting for me to click on it again.
I have Windows XP, IE8, and the pop-up blocker enabled, but none of this has changed since I started having the problem. I do not seem to have any viruses or malware; I have swept repeatedly with several programs (Avast, Trend Micro Housecall, AdAware, Spybot S&D).
Can anyone tell me where to look to try to fix these problems? I am not very computer-literate, so please be gentle! I'm still trying to figure out what these text balloons are properly called, and what makes them work- is it a flash program, or what?
