I have a large paw print classic. It has had a stiff action sence I got it,i figured at first that it needed breaking in but over time got worse.I called CRK and they sent new washers, helped a little but kept getting worse.I cleaned it today and after putting it back together I found I could not move the blade at all.I got it to work by adjusting the tightness on all the screws but they are as loose as I think I can go with out them backing out and it is still tight.
I am going to call monday to see about sending it in.Any ideas on something I can do that maybe I am over looking.I have never had anything like this happen to any of my others and I have dozens of break down and cleanings under mt belt.

I've had similar problems with a few of mine, I really think all they need IS to be broken in. Heres what I did with the last Lg. Classic Sebbie I had. I recieved it, action was stiff, like you, I used it hoping it would break in...it did not. I broke it down, cleaned it, relubed it really good and put it back together.
Then the blade wouldnt move at all much like you say. I messed with all the screws but mainly just tried to get the pivot screw as tight as I could, but still have the kind of action I wanted in it. I decided that it wasnt going to fall out and lived with it and used it for a day or two.
After this I checked it again, in a day or two, the screw hadnt loosened so I tightened it a little more to make myself feel better, knowing it wouldnt come loose. The screw was tight and now the action was how I wanted it.
After another day or two I screwed the pivot down as much as I could, really just double checking it and making sure it remained tight. The Pivot screw was plenty tight enough and the action had broken in to be perfect:)
This is how I did a slow break in on my Lg. Classic Sebenza. Understand that each time I tightend the pivot screw is was a very, very small amount..like half a turn if that. Who knows if this works but it sure seemed to work for mine.
Hope that helps:)

It needs to be put together just right for it to work. Some breaking in might be necessary but with a knife that costs that much you shouldn't have too. Send it back. I think QC at CRK might be getting sloppy. Clean it, lube it and put it back exactly right and it should work. I had a Micarta inlay that I sent back twice before they got it right.

New washers are a micron or two thicker, thereby negating the effect of the pivot bushing? Could be it. Try taking her apart, and "cleaning" the washers on a 4000 grit or so stone. Get 'em all shiny like. That might do the trick. And look for any burrs on the pivot bushing itself. Not saying there's anything there, but worth a look.

I have done all of those things.
I am thinking that its not in the pivot but in the stop pin.If I loosen the stop pin screw the blade action is fine but the screw starts to back out after a day or two.Maybe the spacer on the stop pin is a hair to thin and when tight pinches the blade.I can get the action right but the screws are to loose when it is and start to back out after a few days.Right now the screws are snug, the same tightness I do all my others at and the blade is so stiff I can barely open it one handed.

sounds you you should send it back. I'm all for a little tuning, but after repeated attempts it's time to got back, IMO.

Thats my thought as well.
I will give them a call Monday to tell them whats up with it and send it in.

follow the way they say in the forums to reassemble-
the first few times i tried it didnt work good at all-after a few more attempts it worked fine-

Well,get this.
I thought I would try one more time thinking I missed something.I took it apart and cleaned very good, used Rem oil instead of Miltec and put back together. The action fells just like a brand new Sebie. The screws are as tight as they should be and everything looks good.Could have been a very small bit of gunk or something somewhere I could not see causing it.The way it was it had what seemed to be tight spots on the swing open and close, now they are gone and the opening-closing feels the same all the way through.

Hhmmmmm... after reading this as well as some other posts here, I think I will back out of spending $400+ for a Sebbie. I've seen alot of good things recommending them and I have seen some really nice ones with the "unique" graphics that have caught my attention but at that price range and the "quality" issues that have been brought up makes me think twice about it. For this price range there shouldn't be these types of issues with a "new" knife. For me anyways.

One problem does not mean that CRK is getting sloppy, or that their knives are junk. Many people here have been buying CRKs for 10+ years, and say they have never had ANY problems with Sebenzas.

My guess is that the person reassembled and somehow the pivot bushing "sandwiched" one of the washers. This leads to very rough action. It has happened to me once before. Whoever said CRK was getting sloppy didn't think too much about their comment, in my opinion.

I definitely dont think any piece I own from CRK is sloppy. They're are without a doubt the best knives I own. I think there fit and finish is probably about as far from sloppy as you can get. I've had Sebenzas that were a little tight from the shop, but just needed some more lube and time for it to get worked in. I've bought custom tactical folders that were far more expensive than a Sebenza and they needed a whole lot more done to them than a little extra lube to get them working properly. I will never stop buying CRK stuff, in fact..its just about all I'll buy at the moment:)

Yeah,VERY few might have a small problem but mine was just something I was overlooking.I have never had any trouble out of a Sebenza before.

I still buy only Sebenzas. Custom knives can be hit and miss. I think that it would be very unlikely that you would regret buying a $400+ Sebbie. I think that they are of better quality than 99% of the customs I have. I fact I've been trying to sell my customs because I can't find one that I like better than the Seb. I found out the hard way that there is not much demand for custom left hand knives.

Exactly. When you reassemble the knife, be sure neither washer gets pinched by the pivot bushing. It's a very easy mistake to make if you aren't careful. Read the Sticky: How I clean my Sebenza (with pictures) by Ted Voorde.
