I tried Calling Emerson today, and got a message telling me the number had been disconnected. I gave my little brother my Blackbird and a fine Gerber diamond stone, before he deployed to Afghanistan. My wife decided to suprise me and replace it. To make a long story short, the shop convinced her to get a Raven. The blackbird was a B BTS, the Raven is an A SFS. Not a huge deal, but it was DULL when I got it. No big deal, I touched it up, and it just didn't seem as sharp. I tried all of the tricks, and it just seems like the steel is different. I can't figure it out. I've sharpened several Emersons for myseld and friends, and this one has me baffled. It doesn't seem to take or hold as good of an edge. Interestingly the Raven is a 2001, the Blackbird was a 2002. I've even tried lowering the angle without any change.

Hmmmm maybe they didn't have a Blackbirds in stock?

However, I believe the Raven is a discontinued model.... BlackBird is what replaced the Raven.

Yes, as I understand the Raven was replaced by the Blackbird. I'm happy my wife replaced it because I thought it was just "lost to a greated cause". However I'm still unhappy, all things considered. Aside from the edge issues mentioned, I loved the G10 on the Blackbird, and the Raven just doesn't feel as good. Let me explain a little. I was born without muscle in my thumbs, a genetic defect caused from one of those wonderful 70's morning sickness drugs (name escapes me). Surgery has given me pretty good use of them, however I cannot move the knucke joint, and the shape and texture of the Raven slabs frustrate me.

You must be calling the wrong number, I just called them at 13:15hrs EST on 8/4/04 and spoke to them to see if they are plans to make anymore karambit silvershadows. The number listed on their website is correct.

310-212-7455

And if you're wondering, the lady told me they have the handles and the liners cut but no blade blanks yet. but the standard production karambit-CQC-7's are on the production line for shipping towards the end of the year.

Hmmmmm, that matches the number I wrote on the Post-It note. Maybe I was just senile or had a brain-fart mid-dial. I'll try again. Thanks!
