I bought a hide away knife, the straight model and I have trouble sharpening it.

It came out of the box sharp, but not shaving sharp or anything. So i figure no big deal and i take my sharpmaker to it with no luck. I use this as a last ditch boot knife andd i love the way it stores away small. people at work are usually interested in what this thing is sticking out of my boot.
The thing is it just wont sharpen. I have some experience knife sharpening, and have always been able to get my knives sharp, especially using the sharpmaker, but this thing just doesnt want to get sharper.

What steel is your model? If you have a titanium blade, I suggest to anyone buying one of these that you never, ever, use the blade for anything because you will never get it as sharp as it came from the maker.

all i can suggest is to try the sharpie trick to make sure you are hitting the edge.

you must be at the wrong angle because if ya are at the right angles it has to get sharper, try a sharpie and see if ya are hitting the edge right.

a sharpmaker, though a great product, isnt always at the right angle.

if its S30 or some other hard steel its gonna take more time/strokes to get it sharp too,

I think its the 440 version. I cant remember exactly but I dont see the steel they used on my version.
I cant remember if i tried the sharpie trick, ill have to try that again.
