Are they L6?? To anneal L6, you have to heat it up and let it cool very slowly. I'm not sure what the annealing temp is. You can either leave it in the oven to cool, or put it into a bucket of vermiculite. I work my saw blade steel hard. I've never had it rc tested, but I think it's around 35-40, not all that hard. When I send the blades to Rob Simonich for heat treat, he gets it rc 60. Then that stuff is real hard! If you'll use the search icon and type Rotor into the member search, you should find a thread with L6 annealing instructions. Take care! Michael

yeah i heated it up in my little forge and shut it off and noww letting it cool that was probably an hour ago.i`m tryin to drill some holes through the stuff!!we`ll see in a bit if it worked.Oh yeah i don`t know if it is l6 or not!

you are not cooling it slow enough, try a bucket full of dry refractory that is what i use or you could put it between several layers of kaowool,if i remember right the annealing temp is just before non magnetic about 1400, it needs to cool at a very slow rate like 10 or so hours i have had several blades in my bucket that were still warm the next morning

OK..
