Problems with new Endura

I just got a brand new Endura. I think that something may not be right with it. It has a good bit of "lock rock", and has no detent to it. Meaning when you close the blade normally, they usually snaps shut some. This has zero snap to it at all.

Does this sound like a warranty issue? I am not usually a picky person, but if it's like this new, it ain't getting any better.

Something sounds amiss. You probably need to let Spyderco take a look at it.

I guess I will try and make contact with them this week. Hopefully they make it right.

Every spyderco backlock I've owned has had a great deal of snap to it. Sounds like you got a lemon.

In my experience, every standard lockback has vertical play. I am sure some have more play than others. If it concerns you, do not hesitate to fix it.

Concerning the lack of closed retention, is the pivot too tight?

Sorry if I wasn't more clear. I have a few other Enduras, Salt 1, Delica. They all snap shut very crisply. This one is not too tight. In fact, if I loosen it any, it gets sloppier blade play. This one actually has no detent to it. Kind of a bummer. I am sure hoping that they will replace it.

Nullity, I understand that there is some play against the lock, to be expected. But this one far exceeds my others. In fact the whole knife is just sloppy and $%itty.

On my Stretch, I had to pay close attention to the pivot and lockbar screw tension or the knife would not snap closed.

I'm so sorry about this. When I received the knife I was told it was NIB, so I just assumed this was a normal Endura.

:(
