Problems with retention on H.E.S.T. sheath

Hey Guys,

The retention on my H.E.S.T. sheath is seeming pretty flimsy. I've only had the knife a couple of weeks. I had carried it when I first got it, then put it aside to neck my Izula. The Izula has been out of commission while putting new slabs on so the H.E.S.T. has taken back over carry duty. My problem is that with the retention screws where they were from the factory (just below the top holes on the sheath) the knife is continually coming out on me. It fell out into my shirt while necking it around a bit the one day. I've tried hip carry with a tek-lok and every other time I go to grab it it's sitting loose in the sheath waiting to fall out. Now if I move the blade side retention screw up a notch the retention is ridiculous. I almost gave myself a 550 rope burn unsheathing it from the neck. From any position it's too much retention. I've tried just moving the spine side screw up a notch but it seems to have no effect on the retention at all. Can anyone help me out. I love the knife, but I won't carry a folder that won't deploy and lock safely, same thing with a fixed blade in a sheath.

God bless,
Adam

I would try a rubber washer on the screw and put it in the top hole. This'll give it a little flex and make unsheathing a bit easier.

If that doesn't work, let Jeff or Mike know and they'll take care of you.

i put a extra screw with a rubber washer on the top hole blade side you can adjust the tension that way without it working loose

take it easy

Cricket/Shotgunner,

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it. I'm sure that Jeff or Mike would help if needed. But if I can fix it on my end (in a reasonable way) I'd really rather just do that. I'd rather call on them if (the way their blades are made I don't expect to see this if) something big really were to happen to the blade.

God bless,
Adam

R.A.T.,

Thanks, so far today I've run a couple of errands with the HEST back on my hip using the rubber washer trick. It seems to be doing the job so far. If there is a further problem I'll let you know, but right now all is well. Thanks for the customer service.

God bless,
Adam
