Problems with the black monster...

I dropped my Seiko Black Monster this morning. The little tab at the 12:00 c'clock position popped off, and is floating around under the face. At the time, I swore at myself and resigned to have it fixed. But now, the hands have caught up on the piece floating around and have stopped moving. Is this going to cause any problems, or does the movement have a little clutch in there that will protect it?

I guess I can only hope. Oh, and if anyone has any idea how much it may cost me to have it opened up, and the little tab re-attached, that would be much appreciated as well.

Thanks

Stopping it won't have hurt anything. A watch movement doesn't have the kind of torque (or speed) that could break things on a sudden stop.

How long have you had it? If it's been a few years you might have him clean and oil the movement while he's at it.

Can't you pull out the stem to stop the movement?
The Black Monster does not hack.

The watch should run out of juice, but I'd try to shake that out from the hands if possible.

Gentlemen, thank you for putting my heart at ease. I was in a panic when I saw what had happened. I will try to dig up a jeweler and get it taken care of, I feel oddly off balance without that hunk of metal weighing me down...

Give it a tap to dislodge the piece of lume. Try asking at the seiko citizen forum (google up Seiko Citizen) and ask for Jack @ IWW watches or Randall
