Nearly every day I get an email that goes like this:

------------------------------------------------------------

from: qaakjdmvasd@aoasovd.com
to: dan @ kosterknives . com

Subject: my knife

Message:

What's the status on my knife?
Did you get my payments?
I wanted to modify my order but changed my mind and now I've changed my mind back again to the thing we talked about earlier.

Signed:

Nothing listed!!!
No name...Not even a nickname
No bladeforums name
No telephone
No indication of which knife

It continues to amaze me that it's my responsibility to read somebody else's mind and divinate the order details and update them immediately (and some of these emails come from repeat customers). *shrug*

How hard is it to just email me your name?!? and your order details?

For the most part, you guys that regularly visit my forum are the exception to this rule...and I am probably preaching (ranting) to the proverbial choir.

Perhaps I should make a page on my website that I can link to whenever I get a dubious email message similar to the above...and then just include the link in my reply....I'll think about it.

Here's what I need from you guys.

------------------------------------------

If you are inquiring about the progress of an order, check that thread first before asking making. Many of you say "I don't have time to read all the updates"....well, I don't either really. It's either spend time emailing updates individually, or make knives.

------------------------------------------

If you want to make a change to your order, please include the following:
  1. Forum Name
  2. Real Name
  3. Which knife? (name & order num)
  4. What change? (from _____ to _____ )
  5. Subject of your email should contain the knife's name
  6. Please include if any payments have been made
------------------------------------------
If you want a refund, or want to cancel, or want to transfer your deposit to another knife, please include the following:
  1. Forum Name
  2. Real Name
  3. Which knife?
  4. When did you make payment?
  5. What form? (paypal, check, money order, trade, shop credit)
  6. How would you like it refunded? transfered? canceled?
Keep in mind that I am not a walking ATM. When you send a deposit, it is so I can purchase materials, and once those materials are purchased, the funds are gone. I always refund deposits 100%. But I don't always have it on-hand on-demand. I may need to wait a bit to get funds back in my knife account. Just because you no longer want your knife, doesn't mean I didn't already buy the materials and put the work into it. ;)

------------------------------------------

If you are interested in placing an order, please include the following:
  1. Forum Name
  2. Real Name
  3. Which knife?
  4. What steel?
  5. What handle?
  6. How would you like to make a deposit?
  7. Your address
  8. Your phone number
  9. Your email?

I understand feeling like your knife is lost in the shuffle....I understand not wanting to have to read pages and pages of updates....I understand parting with your money obliges you to check in on it now-n-then.

I am happy to email you guys and chat it up....just make the job easier on me, ok?

Thanks for hearing me out on this guys. I spend a good part of my day just untangling all the mess I get in my email box. I understand that it's part of being a one-man shop....and I'm ok with it. If you all can help me by streamlining your info....it will only mean more time working on knives (less on bookkeeping)!
