Production CQC6?

For the same reason that there are not custom CQC8 and CQC9s - some things are better left undone.....

Just my thoughts.

Ed

I emailed EKI a few months ago asking this question. They told me that there were no plans and probably would never be. The 6 is the knife that started the whole tactical knives boom. It would take away from its "specialness" (is that a word?).

I think if they did make a production 6 it would be their hottest seller of all time. 6's are so far out of reach for so many people, that everyone will scramble to get their hands on one.

I spoke to Ernie about this once. The answer was something like "No way, at no time, ever with there be a production version of the CQC6". The CQC6 is the Flagship of the Emerson Custom line and as such will remain "Custom Only".

I did ask Ernie several months ago, at the Guild Show about the possibility of a "Super Commander" (ES1-M sized Commander) and a production CQC8. They said there were no plans for either. Ernie and Mary really were surprised at the idea of a Production ES1-M and thought that the Commander was large enough (since then Patrick at Triple Aught Design has gotten them to make it).

In reference to the production CQC8, the answer was something like "Mmmmmm, not right now. Too much stuff going on right now". Not a positive answer, but not entirely negative either. Personally, I think if they ever do make a Production CQC8, it'll be a HUGE seller. (Especially if they put a wave on it)

I suspected something like that, that it was too special a design to compromise it by making a production version. The CQC7 just does not fit my hand well, and I would hate to have to go with the Benchmade Pardue to get a similar blade configuration with a handle I can live with. I guess I will have to go play with a Commander and see how it feels...

Robert, John,

I disagree with you, the CQC8 should stay as a custom.

The 6 should stay custom. Ernie is correct in recognising the brand identification that the CQC-6 brings. Rolex wil not increase production of the stainless Daytona because of the attraction that this watch generates and the publicity. I would like the other customs to stay custom but with the Super Commander coming, they may go production. I will not change my order for my ES1-M though. -Dick

Careful there, Aversin. If you go playing around with a commander, bad things will happen. For one, you will NEVER want to let go. Then your wife/girlfriend will start to look at you funny. And then, when you REALLY got it bad, you'll find yourself sewing a pocket onto all your pillowcases just so you can sleep with the wave enhanced speed demon we call the Commander :D . But if you break down and buy one..........welcome to a veeeeery satisfied group of knifeowners. You won't regret it.

Cheers and a beer,

Woody

must admit the commander is a helluva knife, and i used to think the wave was a gimmick lol - now a commander is my EDC, and i have a knife or 2 production and custom..........

I agree the 6 should stay a custom, but i think the 8 would be great as a production knife :) I think a production 8 would be a great addition to my EDC (might have to learn how to sew, im gonna need more pockets :) )

I can see keeping the "6" unsullied by the production process, but
the waved "8" would be incredibly welcome. A no-brainer EDC. Box the rest up for the grandkids.
