Now that Camillus is a fond memory, does anyone know if Darrel Ralph will be offering some of his designs to another manufacturer? I love his work, but the true customs are out of my range. Any info is appreciated.

Hi KFLEISIG

The 18Xray automatic is currently in production for the Military. See DDR's site for info. It will be available to the public in 2 or 3 months. Darrel waitied for two years to partner with a manufacturer, wanting to make certain that the knives that they would make were of high quality and with a stable manufacturer with a great reputation. Plus, Darrel is very honored to be working with Blackie Collins, a real mainstream name in the knife industry for many years. Several other big names are lining up with Meyerco as well.

Darrel is working on 4 new designs with Meyerco. All are assisted. They should start hitting the market, hopefully; by blade show time.

I saw a prototype in his shop as well. I can't say much more about it now. But that that it is an auto, a style everybody really loves, and is either going to be made in DDR's shop or in a partnership with another manufacturer.

Darrel is working on some OTF designs. More to follow on that.

;)

Would be great if there were a production Madd Maxx 5.5 with spear point S30v blade.

The Maxx Q line is also available.

Hard to find , but they're out there.

Any hints on what direction I should keep them peeled in?
My Custom line will have a few new ideas coming out this year that we have been developing.

Maxx Q will have new offerings.

Meyerco will have several new knives coming out that are a step up in quality.

They are also working on the AMERICAN line of knives.

PLEASE tell me that they are going to make the arclite. I just got 2 from SMKW without the sheaths to use as spares in case I mess up my first one i got awhile back. Make them with and without handle scales.

Darrel Ralph is quietly one of the top 5 or so makers of folders, along w/ guys like Emerson, Martin, Bob T, Alan E, and Crawford. In my book, Darrel is no. 1 in the U.S., because nobody else quite covers all bases as Darrel. He was one of the first to offer IKBS and now has his own 'Max-glide' sealed pivot bearing.

I have on order a 'Trigger' with DLC, S30V blade & manual opening w/ max-glide. I expect it will be my EDC for a long time to come.

My only 'druther' would be for D to offer zdp, but it seems like you've got to have an 'in' with the Japanese to get it. The relatively new friction-forged 'Diamondblade' steel looks like American zdp. They say they eventually will offer folders, but I think they could get to market a lot faster if they would partner w/ somebody like Darrel.

Amen, a 5.5 blade version of the Gibbs Maxx. I wouldn't complain if it was D2, either.

Thank you, thank you!

I'd like to see some old favorites back, but we really need new designs. :D

With all the new DDR we saw on BF lately, I just had to write him to get a quote for a custom :D

Got the mail M. Ralph?
