So I finally bit the bullet myself and decided to add a production Duke to my collection. I took it out of the box and did my standard thumb across the edge of the knife to check the edge. I was a little set back as it did not seem that sharp to me. Instead of checking elsewhere I took out a sheet of paper to see how it would do on a push cut. I was shocked when it went through it clean as any knife I have ever seen. I immediately went over grabbed Kevin and made him video me doing it real quick. You can see in the video that I have already cut the other side of the paper one time. These are straight push cuts. Sorry for the bad lighting but in my excitement we did it in the back of the shop. Needless to say more test will be coming but we are very impressed with it straight out of the box!

Nice. I'm going to take a Duke home to play with also. Reminds me of the functionality of the old USMC knife I carried as a boy. I'm excited to go beat the snot out of this knife.

The Production Bushfinger I got to test had the sharpest out-of-the-box edge I had ever encountered, and I've seen my fair share!

With a very refined and polished edge, the sharpness can be subtle. In my own experience the toothier, 600 - 1000 grit edges with micro-serrations under 50X magnification can be felt by the hand more than the 2000 - 6000 and beyond grit polished edges. A knife that is sharper in the sense of a more acute and polished cutting bevel can be very deceptive!

I know it sounds weird but you can have the best push cutting wood carver and it feels dull to the touch and dont cut paper etc or cut paper well but not wood.

Samme with aggresive edge but it nearly always feels sharp to the touch nearly always cuts paper.

But the main thing is how do the cut what you want them to cut?

I always ask my customers when sharpening what are you cutting wood ok? What wood ? Hard or soft? Push or slice? Detail or hard wood removing?

Then i sharpen to that do you want a nice clean slicer aggresive edge polished over it etc etc

Cutting paper dont say much cut what you need and try it out

I have had razor edges that shaves easily that sucks at cutting wood and had edges that feels dull that cuts wood like butter

I understand exactly what you are saying. Don't worry this will get a full work out this weekend and I will report back! I have no doubt it will perform great at whatever I use it for!
