I'm thinking of getting a production fixed blade to take with me while kayaking. (Custom can wait until my skills improve.) There's been discussion before of what blade is "best", has the nicest steel, etc. It always seems to come down to personal preference. I am looking for something with a blunt tip for safety.
I am wondering whose sheath/release system is the best. What I see on the market are the Gerber river knives, the Schrade river rat, and the Kershaw amphibian. Maybe there are others in this class.
Does anyone have experience with at least one of these?
