Not a general rag about production knife prices but there are some that I wonder about. One new bowie knife is $300 MSRP and comes with a diamondwood handle. When you are asked to pay $300-$400 for a production knife shouldn't you expect near custom quality products?

Yes, I can't think of anyone here who would spend that kind of $ and not expect quality, there are production knives out there for less than that which are near custom quality.

You can buy cutom ANZAs, Bud Nealys, hell even Crawfords, for less than that, and get a custom and a well known name to boot.

A couple of points, MSRP is a fiction invented to give people the perception of quality and to allow brick and motars and other stores to give a a price "break" and still get big profits. SO a $300 MSRP is really more like $160 - $180

Secondly, having had a knife with diamondwood handles they aren't bad, they are a little slick.
