I think i might want to jump on board the m390 band wagon, so i'd like some recommendations as to what my options are

I know about the DDR gunhammer, and some of the options from benchmade. What would you guys go with?

I'd probably grab the BM 710 or the sprint run PM2 from Spydie if you can find one...but I don't know if you consider the latter "production" or not.

i'm not so attached to "Production" as i am the production price tag. Customs can range from 250 up to 3000 and... production knives seem to be around 350-400ish at the upper end. I'm much more comfortable with that

The Spyderco Brad Southard flipper is in CTS-204P, which should be the same as M390 give or take.

Might be worth waiting for that one?

M390 can be found in Spyderco para2 and their Militaryies also. Benchmade has it in various knives, including their 755 MPR. I think perhaps in the model 710 also by now. Yes, a super-steel by all accounts.

Some of these (maybe all, I don't know) are limited edition/ sprint runs: Spydie Para2, Benchmades 806 AFCK, 710 McHenry Williams, 751 Sibert, 581 Barrage, 480 Shoki, 730 Ares & 890 Torrent. All of these are pretty much available now and are around $200 or less except for some Benchmade Gold Class versions that are much more though.

Probably the easiest and cheapest knife to be had in M390 is the KW exclusive Benchmade 710. Its around $149.99 if I remember correctly. That's not really that much more than a 710 in D2 steel.

I'm waiting for the relaunch of the benchmade 730 Ares in m390. It will be a KW exclusive and should be available in July.

i really like the blade shape of the Rift and Contego, but i don't seem to be finding those in m390 :(

The 581 and 710 will be easiest to get a hold of I really like both of those options, though Spyderco seems to run their M390 a little harder = better edge holding. I've seen some Militaries on the exchange for not super high prices, I'd say that would give you the best performance. Here's a pic of my M390 collection, its actually the most common steel in my collection currently.

Well I'd chose the BM if it was me... I just can seem to like the aesthetics of SPyderco, no matter how good they work, :( Its a failing... mayeb one day that will change.

The Kershaw Volt 3600 had an edge of M390. They are Very hard to find, though, and I paid $300 for mine. Just a bit less than custom, but custom quality, IMHO.

I'm off to look into the 710...
