So I just picked up one of these amazing knives, and so far I have been exceptionally happy with it. It just keeps on impressing me, the ergo's are great and the blade is absolutely beautiful, and perfect for everything I use it for. I love this knife so much that I am actually going to take it into the woods with me this summer on my 4 month backpacking adventure/trail work job that I have, I will not be coming out of the Wilderness (Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness in Idaho) for that entire time so a good trustworthy knife is a must.

Now my only issue with this knife is that I cannot find a sheath that I like carrying it in yet, and this is very important for me. So because I am still working and am out of town a lot I was wondering if anybody knows of a Kydex bender who has one of these and could make me a sheath for it in a hurry. My issue is that I really don't want to send it off as I am afraid that it will take to long to get there and have the sheath get made and back to me before I leave. Any suggestions would be very appreciative. I would also consider a good leather sheath as well. So if anybody could suggest a good sheath maker with a Recluse on hand I would really appreciate it.

Andy, thanks for putting such a great and beautiful knife together, it is everything I have been looking for in a knife.

Thanks

Very glad you're happy. I have a production one and love it too. There is a significant amount of hand work done on Bark River knives though, and I don't think a proper fit will be achieved unless the knife is there in person. I'd ask around until I found a kydex maker nearby yourself. Most knifemakers have some sort of kydex setup. Put up a thread in the knifemakers shoptalk section or something if necessary. If there is a Michigan guild, this would be the place to find makers nearby.

Great knife isnt it. You could message Reid with Sharp shooter sheaths. He made the leather for them and does some kydex. I personally like the leather it came with. Didnt like it at first but after using it liked it alot.

Thanks for the tips guys, and yes I love this knife. Now I just have to figure out this sheath business.

Sheaths are one of the most difficult part of the knife industry (IMO). They are as user specific as knives.

When someone finds a knife they like, they don't like the sheath paired with it. I think Busse might have the right idea of selling the knife without a sheath so whomever ends up with the knife gets to search out the sheath themselves and can get the one that fits them perfectly.

Derrick, I agree! A custom or semi custom knife deserves a custom sheath that matches the customers preferences, style and personality. IMO The Custom knife market needs custom sheath makers to help fill the customers needs. Gives the knife maker more time to make knives, his customer gets what he wants and the sheath maker keeps busy doing what he likes.
