Hello,
I have been following this forum for a while and now decided to join.
I am interested in the professional soldier knife but there doesn't seem to be many comments here about this knife.
Also, about the sheath, does anybody know why the sheath extends part way up the handle?
I assume it might be to make it more difficult to snag on something and pull the knife out.

Does anybody have experience using and carrying this knife? Some photos would be useful.

Thanks

Anthony

Thanks for finding that old thread. I had just been looking back through the pages.
Do you still have the knife?

I carry the PS almost every day with an aftermarket "inside the waist belt" sheath at about 8 o'clock. Great knife, light as a feather.

You will love the knife. Good size, great looks and just cuts well.

Sheath looks great but is not kydex, it's just plastic. And all three blade shapes use one sheath. But it works just fine. You can also get scales made for it. Cuscadi makes a cool looking one (that I personally would mod a bit to be more like the Pacific style scales) and they have a sheath maker on hand because with scales it won't fit in the original. Can't heat the original to make it work since its plastic.

Anyhow. Neck knife carry is possible, I've done it a lot. My edc when I get the ps fever is belt, cross draw.

Edit: Its smaller than it appears online. Smaller than a large Sebenza opened.

So, I ended up getting one:)
I am very impressed with the knife and have been using it in preference to other knives. I am glad that i got the Tanto it cuts very well. It just seems to be right in every way. It feels good to hold and use. The sheath is ok but the retention is not so good. I tried using a bit of glue to hold the gap closed but will look at putting a pin in the corner of the lower side to hold the sheath closed a bit tighter.

I have a BK 24 and a Izula 2 and tend to prefer the P.S. better thought the other 2 knives are good as well. The sheaths are definitely better for retention of the knife. But I like the soft feel of the P.S. knife.

The blades are similar lengths the Izula being the shorter.

The belt clips on the back of the BK and Izula don't fit as the hole spacing is different. I am not sure as to what style I will use to carry the knife as yet. I think an "in the waist band style" or horizontal style in the front might be ok for me.

I hope this short review has been useful.
Thanks for a good forum.

Thanks for the suggestion but I am in Australia. I was thinking of modifying the clip on the izula to see if it works.

You could get a tek-lok and carry multi positioning.
There are also IWB loops avaliable and the usual sites.
Gluing won't work, you could try a small screw (Chicago screws) to adjust the tension of the sheath.
Hope this helps.

PS: You may also look up the sheath section on the forums, it isn't too difficult to make your own kydex-sheath.

Thanks for the reply. You are correct as the glue did not hold on the sheath. I am trying to find some Chicago screws here but haven't found any yet at a shop. I think they will work. I will try a IWB strap that I will make to see how it works. I might see if I can get a tek lok to try as well.

Yes, I saw that review. That is where I got to idea from to tie the lanyard around the end of the handle. Thanks.

I finally found a screw and fitted it to the sheath. The retention for the knife is a lot better now. I wonder now if the plastic near the screw will split after removing/replacing the knife many times but as the plastic is soft, maybe it will be ok.

I also have one, and even though this is the only available picture of it right now, mine came with a kydex sheat.

I wouldnt say it's bad (its actually finished quite excellently) but it is wide and you need to grab the knife just from the back, and that also means you can't fully wrap it in cord.

I also take that this is a backup knife, right? I find cutting hard things very uncomfortable, even though it stays very well in the hand.

Hello again. I found that the belt clip from my izulla2 will fit on the PS sheath. Only 3 holes line up and are not an exact. But it works and I can clip it to my belt. I am still enjoying this knife, I find it a very useful design.

Take care
Anthony

I bought the insingo version for my cousin's boy, he is a pre-sniper school instructor in Okinawa. Very proud. I too was not impressed with the retention of the sheath and suggested he put a rivet near the mouth. Not heard from him or the status of the knife

I had one but lost it during one of my hikes due to the poor retention of the sheath. I am still have the sheath but no knife [emoji57] I am still sore about it. Strongly suggest you replace the sheath with a custom one if you plan to carry it. Or modify it to what the others suggested to improve the retention.

Even though this thread is a bit old I will post my sheath retention tip. I run a short length of paracord through the top two eyelets and I wrap it around the sheath. On the paracord I have a tag that pulls the cord overtop the sheath. This adds retention and prevents the knife from falling out. Here are a couple of pictures to illustrate what I am saying.

Thanks for the photos Bali-flipper32, It looks like a good idea. I will give it a try. I find that the Chicago screw that I added does improve the retention but the cord that you added will make it better.

Donscpoo, sorry to hear that you lost your knife. I would be annoyed for sure if it happened to me. It is a pity that the sheath is the way it is and we have to try to modify it as the knife is expensive. Hopefully CRK will see this and bring out an improved sheath.
