Anyone have any experience with the Professional Soldier? I'm considering it as a backpacking knife. At 3 ozs I like the weight. But is the handle comfortable? Has anyone here tried wrapping it in paracord or maybe even making a custom micarta handle for it? Also, is that a false edge along the top of the knife?

Thanks....

It has a nice little swedge. You could easily sharpen the first inch. Perfect small knife except for the 3 finger handle. I like it but some people will prefer a longer grip.

Since I prefer a small knife with a skeleton handle, I haven't considered cord wrap or handle slabs.

It's just a 3 finger handle? Hmmm... That doesn't please me at all. Thanks for the reply Esav.

The professional soldier's 3 finger grip can easily be corrected with a lanyard. I have a partial cord wrap on mine because the sheath doesn't really allow for a full cord wrap unless you cut it down. I carried it instead of my izula for a while, i love the blade shape and size. it's a good knife but if the 3 finger grip is a problem you should look at something else. if you are looking for a CRK maybe the green beret? if not perhaps an ESEE 3.

Here is my CRK Professional Soldier Review I did about 1 1/2 years ago. There are pics next to a Large Sebenza and Mnandi for size. I carry the PS every once in awhile ( umnumzaan gets almost full time carry ). But I still feel the same about the PS, its an awsome little knife for what it was intended for.

Review is also found in my CRK Timeline.
