I have been looking for an EDC fixed blade for a little while now and found out about this knife on accident. I was browsing through the usual suspects of knife makers to see what was being made these days and thought I would give CRK a look even though I only remembered them making the Green Beret knife. I was very surprised to see they essentially took a Sebenza and made a “tactical” fixed blade out of it and gave it some cool modifications. Being in Vancouver I didn’t know of any CRK dealers and didn’t want to deal with ordering something I couldn’t touch first. Luck was on my side as I did a short search to find a police supply shop about 45 minutes from me that was a CRK dealer and low and behold they had the knife in stock! I raced right out today to check it out. It is perfect! This knife is so great. It totally disappears in my front jeans pocket even though I’m a smaller framed guy. I compared it to a Spartan Phobos which they also had in stock, and although that was a nice knife the Pro Soldier is a superior knife as far as ergonomics. I wish I had something like this when I was in Iraq 10 years ago. (I had a Strider which was a bit too thick for every day tasks) I’m not in the military any more but I can still appreciate a great design that was built for a soldier in the field. Anyway I’m not going to ramble on too much because being a CRK forum I’m sure you all know more about this knife than I do. I just wanted to share my joy for this blade. I will say I was looking at a few other EDC fixed blades from other manufacturers and at the shop compared it to a few really nice blades in the same category and this CRK has them beat hands down. This knife will be a constant companion from now on. Great job CRK!

Here’s a little pic I shot for fun.

I stumbled upon the Professional Soldier too and I also really like it. While I like the sheath when being worn dangling from my neck I wish there was a pocket sheath or one that could be clipped to a belt.

I agree with this. I am going to have a custom leather belt sheath made for this when I find the right maker. I want something thin with a hard exterior like a pistol holster. I will say that this knife slips in my pocket no problem with the sheath, however it still takes two hands to get it out, but I didn’t buy it as a weapon so I’m not too concerned about that.

It's a great little knife for when you need a fixed blade and the price is great too!

I don't have a professional soldier, but have found that attaching a lanyard to a neck sheath helps get a fixed blade out of a pocket one-handed. The lanyard goes through the sheath, and then you run your belt through the lanyard. When you pull out the knife, the lanyard holds the sheath to your belt. Once the blade is out, the sheath drops down, hanging from the lanyard until you need to put the knife back in. If that makes any sense.

I understand and have done that many times. I’ll likely do that with this one until I have a leather sheath made for it. I would prefer to have this one lashed to my hiking pack and another for EDC. The retention of this kydex sheath is quite strong. It’s not a quick draw sheath by any means although you could work on getting the blade out fast. However 2/3 of the knife is covered by the sheath and it’s locked in pretty good. That’s the kind of retention I’d want for use on my pack or as a neck knife.

You can always add a tek-lok to the sheath to clip it to your belt or paracord to tie it to your belt.. i have used the existing kydex sheath as a pocket sheath just fine. this sucker doesn't take up any room at all in the pocket.

I like my professional soldier quite a bit.

I have been thinking of getting one. I have a wonder though, I have seen photos where the knife was clearly coated and where the knife clearly was not coated. I think I would prefer a non coated one but I do not see those for sale.

It looks like a perfect knife to have in a door pouch or strapped to a sun visor in the car.

I have only seen the coated ones for sale but maybe a call to CRK can help with that one. You can ask them for one un-coated. I dunno if they will do it or not but would only take a quick call to find out.

True that. And I do need to call them on another subject anyway. Just thinking out loud here ...

That’s what I have been doing. Just slipping the sheath in my front jeans pocket, or in a inside jacket pocket. Works just fine for me.

I carry the CRK PS mostly on a belt horizontal carry or like you said just throw it in my back pocket. Great small fixed blade.
